Everyone has a song that somehow makes them weep when they hear it. Your stomach starts to turn, the tears just come, and you realize your out of breath because you cannot think of another song that is more haunting or beautiful.
I enjoy a good Love Story theme song, Last Night of the World from Miss Saigon, Hebrides Overture by Mendelssohn, even the wedding march from Sound of Music. However nothing hits my gut more than Claire de Lune by Claude Debussy.
Crazy people waiting in line for tickets! Shakespeare in the Park is free for all patrons, you just need to wait in line for ticket distribution at the Delacorte Theatre.
Haven't gone yet, but I think it is only fitting that I go see either Big or The Way we Were with Man Man.
Sex and the City knows how to honor The Way We Were perfectly. Hubble!
4.) Run a 5K
Soon!! Matthew and I have signed up for the Stone Harbor Sandy Paws 5K on Sunday August 24!! Woo hoo! What a perfect way to celebrate Christina's birthday than run a 5K for her.
5.) Eat and feel more healthy is slowly getting there. Now that my show is over I have my evenings back to run, which I truly missed! Plus my boss and I are participating in this kick ass app called LOSE IT. It is actually working and I have been noticing a change in my face already. Mary Poppins begins rehearsals in October. That is my goal to look great and feel confidant by that first rehearsal.
I love John Legend's All of Me. It makes me comfortable and secure to know that someday someone will love all of my "curves and edges". Haha. This cover is so great and it features Kiah Victoria.
The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books and movies (the original, not remake, although Leo did have some redeeming qualities). I love how Gatsby stares across the Sound, hoping that one day Daisy will come back to him. Ugh she makes me so angry. Anyway, I digress. I love this cover of Lana del Ray's Young and Beautiful by Scott Bradlee & the Postmodern Jukebox.
My first Broadway show I ever saw was my best friend Travis in The Who's Tommy. It is one of my absolute favorites and I cannot get enough of the music. I had an incredible time playing Mrs. Walker in High School at Holy Ghost Prep my senior year.
Holy Ghost Prep School, 2004
Yes, a little rough, but I loved every moment of it. And now I get to play Mrs. Walker again with New Cavern Productions at Theater Horizon in Norristown, PA! The show runs July 11 to 27, 2014. The awesome part of this electrifying show is the audience is encouraged to BYOB and enjoy Pinball machines in the lobby before seeing the show.
To purchase tickets go to www.newcavern.org and use promo code LOGAN! I hope to see you all there.
Mixing my old world with a little bit of my new world. Such an odd pair together that is makes sense. Listening to Amy Winehouse Pandora today and this song came on. I couldn't get enough.
Today's song of the day was so difficult to choose. My good friend Heather's funeral was this morning. Her family had this first song playing to start the mass, and all I could do was think about how wonderful this woman was and the amount of people she touched. I really took into account the incredible people who have come in and out of my life, and I am a pretty lucky girl:
More Than Words by The Extreme
The second song of the day is by one of my favorite bands, Scott Bradlee and the Postmodern Jukebox. Not only do I love this song by Sia, but the strings in the version brings it to another level. I have so many close friends, going through their own personal struggles right now i.e. long distance relationships, heartbreak, inability to fulfill their goals, family issues, etc. However whenever I hear this song, especially this version, I can just vision myself holding hands with each and every one of the them, and thinking we can take on this world and "live like tomorrow doesn't exist."

I also have a summer reading list that I love to tackle, and I usually finish it within two weeks. This summer I thought I create a Bucket List for everything I want to accomplish.
1.) Visit Los Angeles:
My two close friends Lacey and Chris live in L.A. and always ask me to visit. I have never been to the West Coast and think it's time to remedy this situation. So many things I want to do and see out there: Hollywood Ghost Tour, Los Angeles Brewing Company, find all of the stars on the Walk of Fame, and find a beautiful canyon to go hiking! Check out this one below:
Sex and the City at the Central Park Film Festival
4.) Run a 5K
I am signing up for Stone Harbor's Sandy Paws 5K on Sunday August 25. I truly enjoy running and have only participated in half marathons. Since my family and I will be in Stone Harbor that weekend, I figure why not sign up and get myself in shape this summer which leads to my next Bucket List item...
5.) Eat and feel more healthy.
I was just cast at "Mrs. Walker" in The Who's Tommy with New Cavern Productions. Last time I played the role was in High School, age 18, and I only weighed 120 lbs. I realize I will NEVER reach that weight by July 11, 2014, nor ever again, but I would like to get pretty close. I usually give up meat for Lent ever year and not only do I feel more energized, but I definitely see and feel the difference because I am reaching for more recipes that include Fruits and Veggies. I think this summer I will try becoming at least a pescatarian and see how I do.
After the incredible success we had with the 2nd Annual Mother's Day 5K Race for Christina, my sister and I want to go away on a nice sissy trip together. It is so hard with her work schedule trying to figure out when we will go away! Stay tuned because I am sure no matter where we go it will be fabulous. We have narrowed down our options to either an island or Providence, RI.
Hope everyone has a happy and healthy summer! I cannot wait to blog about mine :)
This song used to be so negative for me and always made me feel like I didn't deserve it. However, once you find someone that makes you feel like a million bucks, and as Maroon 5 says, makes you feel like "you'll never have be alone", then this song has a whole new meaning to it. I always listen to it every time I pull out of the bus station in NYC.
I mean, how can you not listen to this and not get chills. One of my favorite songs that I was googling, and I found this version by Amy Winehouse. Ugh perfection. You can hear in her voice how desperate she is and putting her heart on the line.
Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? (Cover) by Amy Winehouse
The best part of this race is not only do you get to cheer me on, but you can enjoy Michelob ULTRA and taunt me by drinking beer in front of me! I mean come on, look at these kick ass, clever signs
It would be great to have the support of my family and friends as I run to raise awareness for Friedrich's Ataxia. I hope to see you all there! If you cannot make it and would still like to make a donation, click here.
Elton John sometimes knows how to capture you mood, everything you're feeling, and how angry you are at everything. Just one of those days where nothing is going right.
Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding, Elton John
I wish I could go for a run today! Clear my head, and just shut everything off. Sometimes I really hate being a hopeless romantic and wearing my heart on my sleeve. Because then you put your trust in people who just let you down.
I seriously want to become a nun a, and be held up in a convent somewhere. If I had a choice, I would live in the convent in Stone Harbor, Villa Maria by the Sea:
The Full Monty at New Candlelight Theatre is kick ass and taking names right now. I am so happy to be a part of this crazy crew and entertaining show. Other than our fun trailer we have been getting some pretty great reviews as well! Check it out:

Someone very close to me is leaving Philly and I cannot tell you how much I will miss them. As cliche as it sounds there are those people that come into your life, and just turn everyone upside down. This person has always been there for me, has been a shoulder to cry on, a person to laugh with, sing Musical Theatre songs til we are red in the face (gay), had crazy screaming matches with that left us so angry with each other yet we someone how made up hours later, but best of all, this person has been the best drinking buddy ever. Thursday happy hours will never be the same, that's for sure.
I cannot imagine life without this person. But I know it's not goodbye, just see you later.
Ahhhh, Valentine's Day is only 12 days away. (Yes I always have a countdown). In the days leading up to V-Day I love to lose myself in Frank, Dean, Rosemary, Nina Simone and of course some Beatles for a little more modern love song. However it seems that I have been listening to a little more Ella than usually lately. I guess in where I am in love and life right now, this songs seems the best fit for today. Not only does Ms. Fitzgerald bring the sass, you can't help but fall in love with the tongue and cheekiness of this song.
Lately I have been very overwhelmed. Long days at work, and then straight to rehearsals for The Full Monty. To clear my head and get away from my desk I enjoy going for walks. It beats sitting down all day and I just to step away sometimes. Now don't get me wrong I love Philly and it's beautiful Rittenhouse Square, however nothing is as wonderful as a walk through Central Park. So many things to see and do, the Boathouse, Bethesda Fountain, Ice Skating at Wollman Rink, Delacourte Theatre, and Strawberry Fields. However my favorite spot is Shakespeare's Garden. So beautiful no matter what the season, and it is filled with quotes from his famous plays and sonnets.
Here are some of my favorite wintery Central Park photos:
Entrance to Shakespeare's Garden, West Side between 79th and 80th Streets.
Romeo and Juliet outside Delacourte Theater
Nothing like skating in Central Park with your best friend and walking over the Gapstow Bridge to get home. So beautiful.
Yes, I am a total geek, but I love Shakespeare. Fun fact about Cat Logan, one item on my bucket list is to perform in all of Shakespeare's plays from Midsummer to Titus Andronicus. So far I have been fortunate to perform in the following:
I guess what I love about reading, watching and listening to Shakespeare is you always learn something new every time. A new joke, a new thought or idea, or something you never noticed before. You can imagine how excited I am that 2014 is a huge year because it is Shakespeare's 450th Birthday! High Schools, Theaters, Colleges and Countries all over the world are celebrating the Bard's birthday with Shakespeare Week.
In honor of this exciting year, I will be posting my favorite quotes, movie clips, productions I have seen, hilarious moments, and all things the Bard.
If you aren't excited yet, just watch this 5 year old and get ready to be pumped up.
Funny how certain people make you think of certain songs and certain moments in your life. I had someone write to me today that was a blast from the past. This song always reminds me of them.
Hello everyone and Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve. I spent mine in New York City (shocking I know), and although it ended on a sour note, it really was the best week ever. I normally can't stand New Year's Eve. So much pressure to be at the right spot at midnight, call and text the people you want to wish well for the new year, find a bar that will give you the best bang for your buck, etc. I was fortunate to be with loved ones and have a great week leading up to it and after.
My week kicked off with the New York Beer and Brewery Tour. All of you beer and New York history fans, seriously, get your asses to this tour. Our tour guide Nick was amazing, and you get to go to some great breweries and try delcious beer from Chelsea Brewing Company, Brooklyn Brewery, Spuyten Duyvill, and Bohemian Hall. It was a wonderful way to spend a rainy day in NYC, just relaxing and drinking yummy craft beers. After a long day of drinking I got to watch the Eagles kick ass and make it to the Wild Card game. (Yes, they are out of the running now, but at the time it was really exciting).
Monday was amazing because I was able to see the Broadway show I have been dying to see for so long now, Cinderella. The second I heard Carly Rae Jepsen was taking over Ella in early February, I knew I had to see Laura Osnes play this role ASAP. The whole show was so breathtakingly beautiful from the iconic Rogers and Hammerstein music, to the costumes, and the kick ass actors. And yes I cried twice.
Especially during Ten Minutes Ago
Tuesday was New Year's Eve! And I was spending it with Man Man and Laur Laur!! An event that NEVER has happened before. I was so happy to ring in the New Year with my girls and have a fresh start to 2014. I had an amazing last homemade 2013 dinner, and hit the town with the girls.
Happy New Year's!
New Year's Day was very lazy and relaxing filled with mimosas and movies, but the best part was going to see Wolf of Wall Street. Seriously run out to see this movie. Leo has never been hotter and Jonah Hill was hilarious. The writing was very smart and I was enthralled the entire time. Seriously, go. Today. You will not be disappointed.
The one thing that NYC has Philly beat on are it's wonderful museums. One of my ultimate favorites is MoMA, Museum of Modern Art. It was a little bit of a Zoo with the tourists, but so worth it. Every now and then you just need a little Jackson Pollock and Georges Seurat. Thursday, in the crazy blizzard, we went out to Merrion Square. This place was amazing, if anything because you get a free hamburger with any drink. Bryan and Dan played pool, and I was able to listen to this dumb, drunk frat boy try to take a girl home with the worst pick up lines: "I brought you here baby because I bring all my dates here, I am comfortable here." Haha good lord.
Friday I said good bye to New York and my life there for what seems like quite some time. It really has left me heartbroken and extremely difficult to get over. However I had an amazing end to my 2013 year, and 2014 can only get bigger and better. I signed up for an Acting class at Walnut Street Theatre and I have my show opening up soon! The Full Montyat New Candlelight Theatre running January 25 to March 9. Unfortunately I will not be taking my clothes off, but trust me you don't want to miss this hilarious, rock musical.
Happy New Year everyone, and thank you for the best New Year's Eve ever.
Catherine
