Thankful for a Decade of Life Lessons and Love

Thanksgiving is in two days and there is so much to be thankful for this year. It's crazy to think that my 10 year High School reunion is coming up soon. I think of innocent 17 year old Catherine Logan and where she was 10 years ago to now. She was boy crazy, (my senior year on and off again high school boyfriend was in college and we were about to go on a Marching Band trip together to Hawaii, how could I not be boy crazy?),  she had a 2.5 year old brother that was the cutest toddler ever, and was performing non-stop in various choirs and Catholic boy school's drama department. (Sorry bout it, but LaSalle guys are still hotter than Holy Ghost Prep).

A decade later, this Thanksgiving, I am grateful for all of the memories I have made and people that have come in and out of my life. I went to an amazing college that introduced me to the theory, business, and art of theater. Not only that, DeSales University helped me to make connections with some of the loves of my life and soulmates. People who have provided comfort, late night chats, laughs until our sides hurt, late nights writing a paper to 4am, Delta Sigma Gamma, some of the best acting work I have ever done, and friendships that will last a lifetime. I am thankful for the beautiful house I was able to live in with Amanda, and the great parties we would throw.

Also through my excellant education I was able to receive the tools I needed to find a job after graduation. I have been fortunate to work all over Philadelphia from Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, New Candlelight Theatre, Ritz Theatre Company, Bucks County PlayhouseTheatre Horizon, Storybook Music Theatre, Walnut Street Theatre, Theatre Exile, 1812 Productions, Arden Theatre Company, Opera Philadelphia and now University of the Arts.

I am thankful for my amazing family and support we have given each other the past few years. Each one of us have gone through something that we have either been Team Todd, Team Ro, Team Matthew or Team Christina. I don't think people realize how freakishly close I am with my family. I refuse to be anymore than 3 hours away from them if I can help it because my heart can't take it. They are with me everywhere I go, and I think this video is the best way to show how much we love each other.

And because I am still a little boy crazy sometimes, I am thankful for all of the guys that have come into my life. The ones who were mere crushes, the flings that never went anywhere that we can laugh about now (God who thought Jeff Rutledge, RA of Comney was a good idea?!), the bad timing guys who always need to have you on their radar, the guys that you always wished it worked out but your friendship was way more important, the ones who were core shaking that you thankfully still have in your life somehow even if they live in California or too busy with their studies at Columbia University. I am even thankful for those dumbasses that broke my heart in one way or another, especially the one ass whose break up killed me the most because it made me the strong person I am today. Honestly, if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be able to spot the truly nice guys who treat me the way I deserve to be treated - like a million bucks and high up on a pedestal.

I can tell this is going to be an amazing Thanksgiving and I cannot wait to spend it with the people who matter most to me. I hope everyone has a kick ass Turkey Lurkey time :)

Song of the Day: Tell Me Now So I Know by Holly Golightly

I am in such a weird funky mood today. Literally a puss on my face. This song has a great melody and perfect sound for this crummy, rainy day.

Christmas get here soon!

I do not know what my deal is lately but I am so excited for Christmas this year. Such a nerd I know. Maybe it's also because my family have already started their shopping for the holidays and asked me for my Christmas list.

To get you in the spirit, here are some clips from my favorite Christmas movies:

Love Actually, 2003

The Holiday, 2006

White Christmas, 1954

Mr. Magoo's A Christmas Carol, 1962

Elf, 2003

Home Alone 2, 1992

Radio City Christmas Spectacular, 2010

Perfection, all Shirley Temple Christmas scenes.

Don't worry, part II will be coming soon!

I Want To Meet My Former Lover In 40 Years!

Marina and Ulay shared a great love story in the 70s. Together they performed art out of the van they lived in, forming a collective called "the other". When their relationship ended they went to the Great Wall of China to walk it together. Both starting from the opposite end until they met in the middle for one last big hug before dissapearing from each other's lives.

For her 2010 MoMA retrospective, Marina performed The Artist is Present, the biggest exhibition of performance art in MoMA's history. During the performance Marina shared a minute of silence staring into the eyes of a complete stranger who was seated in front of her.

Ulay arrived without her prior knowledge. Watch to see what happens.

One of the many reasons why I love MoMa and why I am such a sap. I am still one of those hopeless romantics, and couldn't help tearing up when I watched this.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Happy November! It's almost Turkey Lurkey Time.

Wow! It's November people! Time certainly has flown by so fast. I spent the first few days of November in the Big Apple obviously with Mr. Graber. We met my cousin Nick at Barking Dog for Happy Hour, and then we went to Grand Central Station for some grub. I am so excited because I tried my first Magnolia Cupcake! You know, Magnolia Cupcake made famous by Sex and the City.

Trust me, they tasted as amazing as they looked.

Saturday, we took a trip to Ridgewood, NJ to meet my family at our favorite diner Daily Treat. It was nice to get out of the city, and see my family I never get the chance to see. Most importantly it was my Pop's 81st Birthday lunch, and I was so ecstatic that I could surprise him! He had no idea I was coming!

My favorite part of the weekend had to be seeing the Sunday matinee of Matilda. Not only was it special because it was Bryan's first Broadway show above pit level, but I have been waiting to see it for so long! The kids were insanely talented, and made me think of my own special kids from The Music Man.

Oh hey Matilda kids hanging out by the stage door

Couldn't have asked for a better way to end a lovely weekend.

It's crazy to think of how much my life has changed in a year. This time last year I was in previews for The Music Man which some of the most amazing people I know, and forming my second family. I truly believe everything happens in life for a reason and I am so thankful to be where I am now. My 4 Year Anniversary with Philadelphia is coming up soon! I have to make sure to have a huge celebration.

Xoxo,
Catherine
