Broadway Flea Market Anticipation

There are a few days out of the year that I make countdowns for and look forward to.

  1. Valentine's Day (Yes I know I am a sap, but I love it, it means my birthday is a few days away and double the red wine and chocolate).
  2. Good Friday (Sounds morbid, but it means that it is Jesus Christ Superstar time).
  3. Annnnnnd Broadway Flea Market!

The Annual Broadway Flea Market is this amazing celebration of Broadway, Theatre organizations and companies. I try to go each year to find new props, costume designs, set designs, and merchandise. Also the best is when you bump into friends!

Last year my friend Rob was performing as Chaplin in Chaplin. My family and I spent all day shopping, went to an amazing meal at Dopo Teatro, and went to the matinee of Chaplin.

I am so excited to go again this year with the man friend, and hopefully bump into some more wonderful people. My biggest dilemma this year is what show to see! I have the biggest desire to see Book of Mormon, however it is cheaper and easier for me to see the tour in Philadelphia. Half of the fun on Broadway Flea Market day is experiencing the long line at TKTS.

TKTS is this wonderful booth in the middle of Times Square that sells Broadway and Off Broadway show tickets for 40-50% percent off! It is glorious. For example here is what is available at the booth this week.
Based on this list I have my top choices:

  1. Cinderella - It's been updated, a little more adult, and I am obsessed with Laura Osnes.
  2. Romeo and Juliet - Ugh my favorite play filled with so many good memories, however I don't want to put Bryan through that torture.
  3. Annie - One of my littles is in the show!!!  I am so proud of Gaby Bradbury for making it into the cast of Annie, and since it is Bryan's first Broadway show it would be nice to take him around backstage.
And although it is not on TKTS line, I really do want to see Matilda and all of the crazy special effects. How high energy was this Tony Performance!

Oh well, countdown has begun!!! 24 MORE DAYS UNTIL BROADWAY FLEA MARKET.

FREE Tickets to see Nabucco at Opera Philadelphia

One role I am proud to have is a Supernummerary with Opera Philadelphia. What the heck is a Supernummerary you might say? Well Supernummerary are ensemble members of an Opera who stand in the background and help provide action onstage. We are not allowed to speak or sing, but boy oh boy do we act!

I have been fortunate to have performed in Carmen, Abduction from the Seraglio, Manon Lescaut, La Boheme, Owen Wingrave, The Magic Flute, and now upcoming Nabucco. My roles have ranged from Nun, Prostitutes, Servants, Cigarette girl, and now an Austrian Artistocrat. To check out the costumes for Nabucco click here to see photos from the Washington Opera production.

I know the Opera can be pricey and sometimes feel unapproachable. The one thing I love about Opera Philadelphia is they want the Opera to feel accessible to everyone no matter your age, status or knowledge of music. Through the generosity of the William Penn Foundation and Wyncote Foundation, Opera Philadelphia chooses one night during the performance run to provide FREE outdoor screening an Independence Mall. People receive Opera cushions, bring drinks, and cheese as they relax and enjoy a night of Opera in beautiful Philadelphia.

This year's screening of Nabucco is on September 28, 2013 at 7pm. Tickets are free but you must reserve them! RESERVE YOUR TICKETS HERE. To give you an idea of what it is like, check out last year's production of La Boheme I performed in.

Summer is Over!

Hello all! It's been a while since I have been on here. I have a new job now! I am the Administrative Assistant at University of the Arts. And with this new job comes new goals for myself. There is is one person in my life who I always seem to look to for positive energy and outlook on life, Lacey Griffin. She gave me inspiration, and here is a list of what I would like to achieve this fall.

Drink more water. I used to be so good at this and recently I haven't been. Plus CNN studies show drinking water will help lose and keep off weight faster! Get out my water bottle now.

Get back to running! Last year I ran the Half Marathon in Philadelphia. Something I never knew I could achieve. I am hoping to beat my time this year.

Clean my apartment more and cook meals for myself like I used to! I have been slacking that department immensely. Good thing I have my Ina Garten to help me out.

Another big goal this year is to travel. I promised my sister we would go away somewhere and I would really like to live up to that promise as she is battling with Friedrich's Ataxia

The one accomplishment that I am very proud of this year is I created the Mother's Day 5K Race for Christina this year. Here is a video to show the highlights from that day.

So far this has been an amazing year and I cannot wait to see what the Fall has in store :)
